Starbucks is back in the news and this time it’s not about music or wi-fi or even a new flavor. Starbucks has a new logo - and some are none too happy about it.
As you can see, the Starbucks’ mermaid is a bit bare-chested and she appears to be attempting to show off her contortionist tendencies.
A Christian group known as The Resistance is calling for a boycott of the chain. Sorry, but I missed that call.
My personal opinion has nothing to do with any sexual references or proclivity some may see in the design. Although I always find it interesting when the most “righteous” of us always sees the seamier side of things. I just think it’s ugly. I liked the green, it was different. Now it just looks dull and like I just bought my latte from Sheetz - and really overpaid.
Oh, well. Once I put that sleeve on my cup, I never look at the logo anyway.
I am more than honored. I am overwhelmed that John C. Dvorak’s Tech5 daily podcast is now being auto-posted to my warped blog.
Each weekday, Dvorak offers well-rounded and sometimes opinionated reporting of the latest tech news from around the world in a 5 minute podcast format.
Tech5, along with the weekly Cranky Geeks video podcast, are always on my iPhone and now I am proud to say that Tech5 is warped. Thank you, Mr. Dvorak!
Comcast upgrade works. Now I get as high as 22 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up. The numbers fall off when you go overseas. Apple rolling out 4 more non-exclusive iPhone deals. Yahoo being sued. It decided to conceal details for some unknown reason. Missouri woman now indicted for cyberbullying. Comcast still being accused of throttling bit-torrent. Sprint says 2008 WiMax. Yeah, right. I like the Aliph Jawbone. ASUS making all its motherboards “instant on!” Wow.
Actually what is happening is she lays on my lap until I get up to get coffee, then she takes my spot that I’ve already warmed up for her.
How do I know this? Because when I come back, she gives me the “look” as if to say, you moved, buddy. Then I must move her or threaten to sit on her before she gets up.
I, however, prefer to believe that she’s keeping my seat warm.
Another Aaron Ty moment. Tonight before bedtime we got comfy on the big couch in the rec room, got out some snacks and watched One Night in the Tropics with Abbott and Costello. Then, of course, we had to watch the full Who’s on First routine on YouTube. Great stuff and a great night.
